Cornelius: A Quiet Strength
A commissioned mural created for a private Christian school, reimagining their symbolic mascot through historical and spiritual narrative.
Commissioned as a gift to a private Christian school, this mural was developed from a simple visual concept of a Trojan-style figure and three guiding words provided by the client. The intention was to move beyond a generic mascot and create a figure with meaning, presence, and story.
The subject was reinterpreted as Cornelius ~ the Roman centurion recognized in biblical history as the first Gentile to convert to Christianity. This choice grounded the imagery in both historical significance and spiritual symbolism, elevating the mural beyond representation into narrative.
This stance ws carefully composed to communicate quiet strength: a figure who does not seek conflicr, yet stands fully prepared to face it. The positioning, expression, and structure of the form were all designed to convey resolve, discipline, and unwavering conviction.
Surrouinding elements reinforce identity and purpose, integrating the school's values while maintaining a cohesive and timeless visual presence.
The result is a mural that reflects both faith and character ~ designed not only to be seen, but to be understood.
