This antique Victorian chair was refinished for the Riviera house collection, where classic European influences and richly layered finishes carried throughout the home.
The original piece possessed beautiful lines and craftsmanship, but its finish had become muted with time. To revive its sculptural detailing, the chair was first deepened with a dark umber base before being hand-finished in 14k gold leaf, allowing the warmer undertones to softly emerge beneath the metallic surface.
The contrast between the aged undertones and luminous gilding brought renewed character to the carved ornamentation, highlighting the elegance of the chair's silhouette while preserving its antique spirit.

The finished piece became both functional furnishing and decorative statement ~ echoing the collected, romantic environment woven throughout the residence.
